Chapter 9 - We have just crossed the United States of America having ridden 3,666 miles in 47 days, with 1 day off. It has been an extraordinary experience, full of contradictions and contrast as we crossed this amazing and complex country.

In spite of the fact we are in Florida - it still very cold at night - so it was a freezing night in the tent. We also lost one hour of sleep - having passed through another time change.

It was lovely to have a lie in on our first day off since San Francisco, but it was short lived as there were jobs to be done. We headed into the famous French Quarter in search of a laundromat

After a much quieter breakfast, where Raz finally perfected her waffle making - we set off. It was a cold morning but bright. The wind had shifted and dropped - all was good in the world.

We had lost an hours sleep having passed over the time line into central time - as a result it was a massive effort to get out of bed.
